Long Tough Day! 14 miles in 10 hours. Saw a moose in Pinkham Notch this morning at 5:30AM. So many views and hawk swooping just below the summit. Helicopter practice happening on the mountain which was jarring but was glad to know it was just practice and that no one was being rescued. We had some really nice breaks at stealthy campsite on the way up and back. Few other hikers out except for a handful on the summit. We checked the views from the platform and then hid out in some soft balsam needle shady nook to eat and drink and recover before our descent.

Mount Carrigain was a lovely relentless 14 miles with some road walk. Saw a moose in Pinkham Notch this morning. Saw a bald eagle very close by as we drove by the fish hatcheries on our way to hike Mount Cabot. Found lots of shady soft pine forest floor spots to rest and snack. Lots of stinky mushrooms going thru a slimy transition. Lots of all kinds of mushrooms like this purple velvety toadstool popping in front of this mossy log. Restored by the balsam fir. 🍄🌲🐾 #queeringtheNH48 #NH48 #mountcarrigain #mountcabot #whitemountains
